About my Studio

Teaching Philosophy

My approach as a private violin teacher is rooted in fostering a holistic understanding of music, where productive practice methods take precedence over number of hours spent with the instrument. I believe that developing effective problem-solving skills in my students not only enhances their musical abilities but also equips them with invaluable tools applicable to all areas of life.

While technical proficiency is certainly important, I place equal emphasis on nurturing a genuine curiosity and appreciation for music, aiming to instill a lifelong passion rather than mere mastery of violin technique. Beyond traditional classical technique and repertoire, I encourage exploration across a wide spectrum of musical genres, including modern pop, video game and movie soundtracks, and Disney melodies.

By tapping into students’ innate exploratory instincts, I strive to create an environment where each student feels empowered to express themselves creatively and develop a deep connection with the music they play. Through this approach, I aspire to not only cultivate skilled violinists but also well-rounded individuals who carry their love for music with them wherever they go.

A little bit about me

With over six years of teaching experience and a private studio that has served more than thirty families in the Spokane area, I focus on nurturing each student’s individual growth. My students have earned principal seats in school orchestras, won individual awards, and perform with the Spokane Youth Symphony.

I’m currently pursuing a B.A. in Music at Whitworth University with specialities in Violin Performance and String Pedagogy, supported by coursework in childhood psychology and education. I’ve held principal positions in the Whitworth Symphony Orchestra such as Concertmaster, Principal Second Violin, and Principal Viola.

With twelve years of violin experience, I have performed in orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the region, including the Coeur d’Alene Symphony and the internationally recognized, award-winning (unofficial) American Quartet. As a child, I progressed through the full Spokane Youth Symphony program, where I now volunteer as an administrative assistant.
